Drawn from the Collections of Henry F. Merritt, Commissioner of Chinese Customs in the late 19th Century, and Mrs. Everett Groff-Smith, wife of an early 20th Century customs agent. Japanese netsuke, Satsuma pottery, enamels, sword furniture, woodblock prints by Kawase Hasui, Hiroshi Yoshida, Paul Jacoulet, Bertha Lum, and others. As well as Chinese snuff bottles, enamels, metal works, numerous textiles and costumes, Chinese porcelains, and jades, as well as furniture, paintings, carpets and other decorations. Korean items include ceramics and an important lacquer box.
