The Hall of Presidents and First Ladies Museum of Gettysburg, PA has closed after nearly 60 years of continuous operation. The museum, viewed by more than one million people since 1957, contains one of the only complete wax figure collections of United States Presidents in the entire country. In early 2017 there will be an opportunity for the public to own a piece of this historic museum. Contents will include life-sized wax figures of all 44 Presidents of the United States and their First Ladies in 1/3 scale 3’ 10” tall. The figures are dressed in their authentically recreated inaugural gowns. In addition, there will be associated pictures, displays, equipment and furniture. The life size president figures were created by several sculpture artist including Ivo Zini who has worldwide recognition for his work in cosmetic prosthesis. Ivo Zini was the artist who did all of the first ladies except the last three. The early president figures were mostly done by Krenson Way Figure Studio of MO & the latest was done by Dorfman Museum Figures Balt. MD.
The more than 20 wonderful background murals showing the development of America are the work of Charles Morganthaler, one of the countries truly great contemporary artist from St. Louis, MO. 40 small Folk Art sculptures of the presidents are by Charles Chuck Caldwell of Gettysburg, PA.
Collection of large B&W photos of President Eisenhower by photographers of Time Life & Wide World Photo. The museum was created in part to pay homage to one of Gettysburg’s most famous residents, the 34th President, Dwight David Eisenhower. His home and farm can still be visited today at the Eisenhower National Historic Site.
