Held in the cradle of American Golf, Southern Pines, North Carolina, PBA Galleries will offer 400 lots of golfing history. Headlining the sale is an 1881 original oil painting of the 17th Green at Hoylake by F.P. “Shortspoon” Hopkins, a rare opportunity to acquire a key work of golfing art. Many cornerstone works in the literature of the game are offered, along with numerous rare and desirable titles that have not crossed the auction block in many years. A number of rarities from the library of Joseph Murdoch, first sold by PBA Galleries in 1998, return to the market here. Championship programs, hickory clubs, early golf balls, prints, rare pamphlets and other memorabilia and ephemeral items are included throughout the sale.
