A NOTE TO OUR BUYERS: This Auction consists of a large number of rare historically signifi cant works of art, photo’s, silver, children’s furniture & toys + more from 2 of the most important founding families from Skaneateles & Baldwinsville N.Y. Circa 1790’s in our local C.N.Y. history.
The Tallcot family Circa 1790’s to near present were important business & farming families in Skaneateles. Phoebe Tallcot painted the folk-art painting of Skaneateles in 1835-6 in such detail + folk art beauty not seen in any painting we have seen of the Village. In 1834 C.L. Elliot, a N.Y.C. painter who painted Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, painted young Joseph Tallcot’s portrait and is believed to be his fi rst commission along with 2 other Tallcot family members. These 2 paintings + others will be in the auction with many other newly discovered family treasures descending in the family till now.
Also in the auction is a rare collection of 70+ 1855-70 Currier + Ives prints from a lady who lovingly collected them for over 60+ years most in Ex. Condition.
