Geneseo, N.Y. — Cottone Auction’s two-day Fine Clocks, Art, Antiques, Toys & Trains Auction will be held May 7th at 12PM EST. and May 8th at 12PM EST. The sale will be held online at Cottone Auctions gallery at 120 Court Street, Geneseo, NY. Limited in-person bidding is available via pre-registration on Saturday, May 8th, only. Previews are being offered by appointment only. Online bidding will be facilitated by the Cottone Auctions website, register to bid at live.cottoneauctions.com. More than 700 lots of fine American and European clocks and Watches, Antique Toys and Trains, Americana, Paintings, Silver, Sculpture, and Decorative Arts will come under the gavel during the two-day sale. The many fine clocks in this sale are led by a Fine John Ellicott Precision Regulator standing at 7 feet 10 inches, with an engraved silver dial (est. $15,000 – $25,000); a Walter H. Durfee & Co Musical Tall Case clock (est. $5,000 – $8,000); a Seth Thomas Double Dial Calendar Clock, with 8 day time and strike calendar (est. $3,000 – $5,000); a Fine French Annular Set (est. $5,000-$8,000) and a French Industrial Steam Engine Clock, attributed to Guilmet (est. $5,000 – $8,000). Also offered is a selection of over 20 skeleton clocks, as well as more than 20 lots of watches including makers Rolex, Patek Philippe, Gerald Genta, Girard Perregaux, Vacheron & Constantin.
An impressive collection of antique toys and trains will be coming under gavel on May 8th. This selection will feature over 100 lots of trains, and more than 120 lots of antique cars, trucks, and toy accessories. Several notable makers will be included: Buddy L, Lionel, American Flyer, Ives, Arcade, Bing, Lehmann, etc.
A selection of Americana, Native American and Military items will be offered on Friday, May 7th, Day I of the sale. Notable items from the selection will include a Powder Horn of col. Timothy Bedel, made in 1775 (est. $8,000-$12,000) that descended in the family of the original owner; a Native American, Central Plains, Batwing Pipe Tomahawk, circa 1840-70 (est. $4,000-$6,000); and Thomas Bryce, Edinburgh Dueling Pistols, 1830-1840 (est. $2,000-$4,000).
To be offered in sculpture and decorative arts is a 6 Piece Sterling Silver Gilt Tea Set (est. $1,500-$2,500); three American School Leaded Glass Windows (est. $1,500-$2,500, each); a selection of Tiffany art glass; and a selection of Tiffany Studios and student lamps.
Other highlights include a Charles Nicolas Cochin (1688-1754) view and map of the Siege of Arras, 1654 (est. $8,000-$12,000) from the estate of Dr. Seymour Schwartz, Rochester, NY; an Emile Gruppe (1896-1978) painting titled “White Birches” (est. $2,000-$4,000); and a Carved Black Forest Umbrella Stand (est. $3,000-$5,000).
