The next Connecticut River Book Auction will be held on Thursday, May 13th and Friday, May 14th as an absentee book auction in South Glastonbury, CT. It features over 200 lots. Of interest is a consignment of aviation material with a focus on Pratt & Whitney and Hamilton Standard. Included in this consignment are items like a Howard’s (1843) matted and framed print “The Aerial Steam Carriage,” flying over the Thames River and (circa 1943) “Pilot Standard Operating Procedures for the B-29 Superfortress.” There is signed artwork by Ted Wilbur including “Frank Tallman’s Boeing F4B-1” and items such as a Pelorus Drift Sight in its original wooden case.
Another interesting consignment is a large collection of correspondence and research by WWII hero Rear Admiral John H. Morrill author of “The Cincinnati” and “South from Corregidor.”
To the art, bibliography, history, children’s literature and fiction to be offered, this sale has several lots on travel and exploration including the 1st trade edition of Fremont’s “Narrative of the Exploring Expedition to the Rocky Mountains in the Year 1842 and to Oregon and North California in the Years 1843 – 44” and Emory’s (1857) “Report on the United States and Mexican Boundary Survey” Volume I, parts 1&2 recently rebound in leather.
