“Hilltop”, one of the great Newport mansions, was built in 1875-1876, and still contains some of the original salon furniture as well as more recent nautical and tapestried items.
Also featured in the sale are antique articles from Newport’s “Harbour Court” and from an East Side Providence brick residence and carriage house built in 1805.
Articles in the auction include marquetry pieces, marbletop consoles, sconces, period looking-glasses, World War 1 posters, vintage Louis Vuitton luggage, yachting memorabilia, “Bolero” linen, large quantity of early porcelain, several decoys, palace-size carpets, silver, cast iron lawn ornaments, “back of the house” utensils.
