Across Connecticut the days are growing shorter, and the harvest season is nearly over. Here at Connecticut River Book Auction, we have collected and stored several large consignments that will meet the book collecting needs of our customers into next summer. Students of South American archeology and anthropology will be pleased as will those who enjoy history, fiction, ephemera, and art.
With over 200 lots for sale, our next auction will be held on Friday, October 1st as a live in-person event. For those interested in religion, Bramanti’s (1962) edition of the “Holy Gospel” in Niger morocco or Owen’s (1668) “Exercitations on the Epistle to the Hebrews also Concerning the Messiah,” provide good reading. Lovers of children’s books will be pleased with Tasha Tudor’s (1989) signed “Sketchbook” and several works by Baum and Bradley’s (1899) “Our Indians A Midnight Visit to the Great Somewhere or Other.”
This auction begins the selling of a consignment rich in books on arms, fine printing, and Americana west of the Mississippi. For example, the work of printer and designer Carl Hertzog appears as does several book lots on firearms. Fiction aficionados should be please with signed 1steditions by Harrison, Gutterson, Schulberg, Ishiguro and Evanovich.
To the items just mentioned, this sale offers a scarce (1892) “Grant’s Bankers & Brokers Railway Atlas. Several print and photograph lots include a signed Leroy Neiman poster and signed Rabajoi’s (1918) Queslques dessins et Lithographies Originales sur la Guerre par Rabajoi 1914 – 1918.” Oh, and did we mention the 1stedition, 4thissue copy of Dickens Christmas tale “The Battle of Life,” nicely bound in full leather and a signed photo of Heavy Weight Boxer Jack Johnson and the Circus Cabinet cards of Tom Thumb and Nora Hildebrandt?
