This super auction consists of 2 exceptional first time offered genuine large estates. The first comes from a West Lake Rd. Skaneateles, NY historically significant estate home with family that were descendants of the Wedgewood family of England. They also had a letter written by Stephen Crane while at Syracuse University in 1891? to a friend.
Crane was an SU student and died at a young age of 27. He was a war correspondent and many say he was the Father of the U.S. Literary movement. He was also the catcher on the S.U. baseball team. The family in Skaneateles were generations of SU graduates and some SU early items are here for the auction (scrapbook, gold pin paper items, letter, etc.) There are very few early letters by Crane available for sale.
