BEVERLY, MASS. — Kaminski’s next auction will take place Sunday, February 27, at the firm’s gallery starting at 10 am EST featuring the contents of an interesting Pepperell, Mass., home.
The English Tudor home was originally a 1903, 400-acre sheep farm called “Wooltop Farm,” with two houses built by the Keyes brothers, George and Charlie. The home was recently sold by its current owner to a young singer/songwriter from California looking for the quiet and solitude of the country to compose music. The well-kept Tudor home now boasts ten acres of tranquility with a secret garden and golf course with nine tees and three greens, seven fireplaces and verandas on both sides of the house.
In addition to the furnishings from the Pepperell estate, there are additional items from the estate of Ethel du Pont from her home on Seaspray Avenue in Palm Beach, Fla.
Fine art highlights include a Banksy dog stencil, pencil edition, signed and dated, originally purchased in 2012 at Art Basel, and a Keith Haring print of “Liberty” that is marker on paper.
Oil on canvas paintings include an Abbott Fuller Graves (1859-1963) still life and a George de Forest Brush (1855-1941) work titled “Bouquet for the Maiden.” There are several lots of Norman Rockwell artist proofs from a Billerica, Mass., collection.
Other highlights include an antique suit of armor removed from Taymouth Castle, Scotland, along with a collection of Japanese swords and daggers from a South Hamilton, Mass., collection. Civil War buffs will not want to miss a collection of Civil War ephemera.
Silver and jewelry in the sale includes a silver lot of Georg Jensen in the Royal Danish pattern, a South Sea pearl double strand necklace and earrings and a lady’s 14K diamond and tourmaline ring.
Preview hours are Monday-Saturday, February 21-26, 10 am to 5 pm and the days of the sale beginning at 8 am. The preview is open while the auction is live. The Kaminski auction gallery is at 117 Elliott Street, Route 62. For information, www.kaminskiauctions.com or 978-927-2223.
