Leading the selection of works offered from a private collection of contemporary art is an oil, text and resin oil photograph on wood panel, “Physicality,” by Sherry Karver ($5/7,000).
Other masterworks from the Provincetown Art Colony offered to the highest bidders include a 1918 “Trees and Dune” oil landscape by Gerrit Beneker ($3/5,000) and a 1939 gouache view of Bradford Street by Ross Moffett ($3/5,000). “Provincetown,” a white-line color woodblock print done in 1935 by Alice Imogen Howells ($1,5/2,500) and others by Kathryn Lee Smith and Ruth Hogan should generate interest among print collectors. Sculpture by Bernard Simon and several bronzes by William Boogar round out the sale with something for everyone.
