COVENTRY, CONN. — The country and primitive shop, Nathan Hale Antiques Center, is hosting an expansion and renovation event, Thursday, April 21, through Sunday, April 24, 10 am to 5 pm daily. “We are offering original items for those who love the bygone days,” said co-owners Joyce and Peter Haddad. “There is something for everyone!”
The center is in a historic late 1700s church. It began its life as an antiques shop with the Haddads about four years ago. As business grew, the need for more space was apparent. The shop started with about ten dealers and now has about 20 dealers.
Joyce Haddad’s love for textiles, country items and old dolls and teddy bears is evident in her space, which is about one-quarter of the shop.
The new expansion now adds an upstairs space and a walkout basement level. Hours have been expanded for the summer to include Wednesday through Sunday. There are other shops and eateries within walking distance and three other shops within a short drive.
Nathan Hale Antiques Center is at 1141 Main Street, Route 31. For additional information, www.nathanhaleantiquecenter.com or 860-498-7400.
