Featuring the Harvey and Sandy Sussman Collection: We are proud to present the lifetime collection of Harvey and Sandy Sussman.Both educators, they spent the summers in VT from 1976-1986, searching all the leading shops and galleries in New England, and village tag sales, in their quest for early country Americana. With excellent taste and a keen eye their collection took shape. They now feel, ‘its time to bring our collection back to where it came from’. Combined with an old Francestown, NH estate, this sale is extraordinary and perfectly suited to be displayed in the historic 1820 French House homestead at William Smiths. Over 400 lots of Country Americana – Boston Highboy, other highboys, Queen Anne and Chippendale chests and desks, painted cupboards, painted blanket chests and boxes, early hutch and tavern tables, early Windsor chairs, early candle stands, collection of samplers and needle works, silhouettes and miniature paintings,collection of redware and stoneware,early lighting, weathervanes and folk art, early toys and dioramas, hooked rugs and quilts, early signs, mocha and early pearlware, portraits and marine paintings, plus antique Oriental rugs and more.
