PLANTSVILLE, CONN. — Nest Egg Auctions will conduct its September Spectacular sale on September 17 at 1 pm.

The sale features a wide variety of objects from around the globe. “I am very excited to present the September Spectacular,” said auctioneer Ryan Brechlin. The star of the show is undoubtedly the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch. With a case in 18K rose gold and a black leather strap, this man’s watch has an exhibition case back that allows one to see the complex automatic movement of the watch. Brechlin said that it is among the finest watches Nest Egg has sold with an estimate of $40/60,000.

The sale includes a collection of sterling silver, fine art and Russian lacquer boxes from a Tulsa, Okla., estate. Two paintings from this estate are of particular note: one is by the Nineteenth Century French Barbizon painter Albert Charles Wallet. Titled “Banks of the Seine,” this painting is expected to achieve $3/6,000. In addition, a landscape painting by the British painter H.H. Parker titled “Thames Backwater Near Windsor” is expected to sell for $1/2,000. The sale will also feature a variety of other works of art, including two lithographs by James Abbott McNeill Whistler. These two prints carry estimates of $500-$1,000 and $1/3,000.

Another interesting item being sold is a 1912 Gibson L-1 archtop guitar. This is an early instrument by a famed manufacturer, as well as being the preferred guitar model of a well-known bluesman. “The famed guitarist Robert Johnson played an L-1,” said Matthew Blanchard, cataloger and fine art and books specialist at Nest Egg. “Johnson’s style was so revolutionary and new that a legend emerged that he sold his soul to the devil to play like that.” Nest Egg’s guitar should sell upwards of $2,000.

The auction will begin at 1 pm EST at Nest Egg Auctions’ new building at 8 Metals Drive. Bidders are invited to participate live and in-person, via telephone or absentee bidding or online. Special discounts are offered for those who choose to attend and bid live at the auction.
