BEACON, N.Y. — Hudson Valley Auctioneers will present an unreserved antiques and estate auction with absentee, phone and online bidding through LiveAuctioneers.com on Monday, March 18, at 5 pm EST.
The sale includes select items from a Park Slope brownstone, an UES penthouse estate and several partial estates. Furniture selections from the Brooklyn collection feature a four-piece Pottier and Stymus gilt, carved rosewood bronze mounted parlor set, a large seven-piece ebonized and gilt parlor set, a Pottier and Stymus style marquetry inlaid center table, a marble top dresser, possibly Thomas Brooks, a Herter-style handkerchief table, an attributed Herter card table, a cheval mirror and other decorative items from the period. Also included from the five-story brownstone is a large selection of Stickley Audi oak mission furniture in Gustav and L&JG Stickley designs.
A G. Stickley #346 Morris chair, several other period mission chairs, a Lakeside Craft Shop magazine stand, Arts and Crafts pottery, including two Wheatley pots and a Roseville Jonquil jardiniere and pedestal were also from the showcase home. Midcentury fare from the 83rd Street penthouse is led by a Gio Ponti for Singer walnut headboard with cabinets, a Saporiti lacquer dining table, unusual brass and glass table set, a rare Dunhill table clock, a Paul McCobb square table and Planner Group desk and chair are among other pieces.
Artworks begin the day with mid-Twentieth Century oils and follow throughout the day with many groups of paintings, some early prints, traditional, modern and abstract artworks. Artists include A. Durer, Chaim Gross, W.H.Foster, Scott Brodie, Deborah Zlotsky, George Leboutille, Alice Dalton Brown, Steven Andrews, Charles Seliger, Alberto Greco, Peter McIntyre, Leo Rackin, E. Simoneau, Peter Max and others.
Lighting includes several vintage panel lamps, two Quezal shaded chandeliers, two Arts and Crafts oak and glass lamps and several other traditional and modern lamps. A selection of paisley shawls, several room-size and smaller Persian and Chinese carpets, Asian items, including jade carvings, several porcelain pieces, cloisonné, rosewood antique furniture and watercolors are scattered throughout the sale.
Porcelain and glass includes Meissen and Dresden figures and groups, sets of china, large groups of Lladro, vintage glass, Loetz, perfumes, Royal Copenhagen, two pairs of Victorian leaded windows, several art glass pieces by Wes Hunting, Gartner/Blade, James Nowack and others.
A large selection of costume jewelry to be sold in single and large multi piece lots, and some jewelry, mostly Victorian gold, will be sold along with a selection of sterling and .800 silver flatware and hollowware, silver coins and ingots and other US Mint items. Other items that should draw interest are a six-piece Tiffany Studios “Adams” desk set, a convex eagle mirror, two monumental Minton aesthetic style vases, a rare Nineteenth Century oak topped brass and profusely knotted rope and brass based sailor made whimsical lamp table and a nine-piece American crafted aluminum and glass dining set with two stools.
Many more interesting items will be included in the expected 450 lots.
