For our 25th Anniversary Auction we present to you important American and Continental furniture, fine & decorative art objects, including paintings, silver, Oriental carpets & jewelry from the Mr. & Mrs. Allen Freedman collection, Park Ave, NY, Mr. Avery Smith, Kingston NY, including items by descent from his father, the late Robert Avery Smith, the prominent Vermont dealer, Dr. Tullio and Gianna Mereu of Avio, Italy and Saratoga Springs, NY. Also included is a 30 year collection of carved folk art animals from an upstate NY collector.
In September of 1991 we held our first auction at our “new” gallery. For those who remember the late Allan Dixon, he manually recorded the auction, there were NO computers, website, internet or phone bidding. The buyer’s premium was 5%. George H.W. Bush was president. The average income per year $29,430.00. The average monthly rent was $495.00. The cost of a gallon of gas was $1.12, a 1 LB of bacon was $1.95 and a dozen eggs 85 cents. Yes, all 25 years ago. We cordially invite you to join us for a preview party to celebrate our 25th anniversary on Saturday Sept. 17th from 3-7pm.
