Jewelry: Buckminster Fuller (1895–1983) was an architect, engineer, mathematician, philosopher, humanitarian, futurist, inventor of many artifacts including the geodesic dome, and one of the most brilliant thinkers of the 20th century. In 1983, he received the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, with a citation acknowledging that his “contributions as a geometrician, educator, and architect-designer are benchmarks of accomplishment in their fields.”
From the Estate of Buckminster Fuller
The author of nearly 30 books, he spent much of his life traveling the world lecturing and discussing his ideas with thousands of audiences. According to his family, he would arrive from around the world just before Christmas with a trunk filled with gifts including ethnic clothing, art and jewelry. He often chose pieces that reflected the geometric principles he had been exploring. Several of these you will find in this collection of jewelry, all of which are part of his and his wife Anne’s estate.
