Winter Associates is offering in an Online Auction approximately 135 lots of movie posters, lobby cards and travel posters that will be available for bidding noon May 1st – 14th noon, through Invaluable.com with staggered time finish. Included are sought after posters such as MGM’s 1952 Singin’ in the Rain starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor (est. $1,800 – $2,200); a United Artists’ 1952 poster for The African Queen, starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn (est. $2,000 – $2,500); and a rare insert poster for Howard Hawks’ Columbia 1940 His Girl Friday, starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell (est. $1,000 – $1,400). A poster for United Artists’ 1961 West Side Story starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer (est. 600 – $800) is of special interest as it was designed by Saul Bass. Other featured posters are Warner Brothers’ 1944 Arsenic and Old Lace (est. $400 – $600); Warner Brothers’ 1960 Ocean’s 11 starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. Peter Lawford and Angie Dickinson (est. $400 – $600); and MGM’s 1956 High Society (est. $300 – $500).The auction has a good selection of Alfred Hitchcock-related material including a half sheet for Universal’s 1963 The Birds starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette and Tippi Hedren (est. $400 – $600); lobby card no. 2 from MGM’s 1959 North by Northwest, the classic image of Cary Grant fleeing biplane starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason (est. $400 – $600); and five lobby cards from the 1955 film To Catch a Thief, starring Grace Kelly and Cary Grant (est. 200 – $500). Lobby card no. 6 from James Bond’s 1962 Dr. No starring Sean Connery depicts Bond with his bathing-suit clad co-star, Ursula Andress (est. $100 – $200); and a single lobby card from the 1965 film Help! starring the Beatles, depicts the iconic band members (estimate $100 – $150). A generous selection of over 50 lots of affordably-priced lobby cards will be offered including High Society, That Touch of Mink, The Trouble With Harry, Casablanca (including two Mexican lobby cards), Giant, Mogambo (Spanish and English versions), Guys and Dolls, Lawrence of Arabia, Murder on the Orient Express, Parent Trap and 101 Dalmatians. Travel posters with handsome graphics include the Montreux-Bernese Oberland: The Golden Pass Route printed in Switzerland by Brugger Ltd., depicting the interior of an electric railway car with two young women looking out of the window at a lake with snow-covered Alps in the background (est. $2,000 – $2,500); a colorful view of Lac’ D’Annency by French artist Jean Pierre Julien printed in May 1926 depicts the lake with snow-capped mountains in the background (est. $1,750 – $2,000); the 1922 poster of Toulon, France by artist Laurent Matteo depicts an inviting scene on the French Riviera with a young woman reading on a veranda at the water’s edge overlooking the harbor (est. $1,200 – $1,500); Vichy Casino by artist Julien Lacaze depicts a luxurious palace surrounded by lush gardens (estimate $700 – $1,000); the c. 1920s New Zealand depicts a native surrounded by lush greenery watching a steam ship from shore (est.
