MARLBOROUGH, MASS. — An unsigned paint-decorated pine fireboard painted for the Amos Blazo house in North Parsonsfield, Maine, circa 1815-20, sold for $86,000 on the second day of Skinner’s August 11-12 Americana sales. The single panel with two large trees and several smaller ones sold for more than twice the estimate to a phone bidder. The piece had remained in the house until 1984 and featured provenance to Stephen Score. In general, color sold well with paint-decorated wood and tin bringing strong prices. A full report will follow.
