– Is there room for another show during Antiques Week in New Hampshire? If you ask that question of John and Tina Bruno of Flamingo Promotions, they will give you a very definite “yes.” In fact, the plans are already cemented for another show that will take place right after the close of Flamingo’s Start of Manchester Antiques Show, and both will be at a new location.
“We have signed a contract to conduct two shows at the Event Center at C.R. Sparks,” John Bruno said. That space is on Kilton Road, a side street off South Avenue and almost directly across the street from the Wayfarer Inn, site of Frank Gaglio’s Mid*Week In Manchester and the Bedford Pickers Market.
“We are planning the first show, The Start of Manchester, to open on Tuesday and close on Wednesday, with The Bedford Antiques Show scheduled for Thursday and Friday,” Tina Bruno said.
Each show will have 40 exhibitors, with no repeats for the second event. “We will let a dealer do both shows if there is a complete change in merchandise, but nothing can be shown at the second that has already been offered at the first,” Tina said.
Dealers will show in a large lobby that opens into an exhibition area and the Event Center is fully air-conditioned and carpeted. There is ample free parking. “We will not be doing any tenting and we are still working out the hours,” Tina said. A combo ticket will be available for admission to both shows at a savings over single priced tickets.
The New England Antiques Festival in Hopkinton, N.H., also managed by Flamingo, is in store for some changes.
“We are looking to move that show closer to Manchester and a site will be announced in the near future,” Tina said. In addition to the present format of the festival, a book and paper show will be added. That show is conducted during the same time period as the Northeast Auction at the Center of New Hampshire Holiday Inn in Manchester.
“We do not want to step on any toes, but are looking to make our shows fit into the schedule of Antiques Week in New Hampshire so that it will be best for both the dealers and the visitors,” Tina added.
