NEW YORK CITY — On March 26, Doyle continued the legacy of real estate investor, philanthropist and principal of Solil Management, Allan Goldman (American, 1943-2022), through a 223-lot single-owner sale of a selection of English and Continental furniture, decorations, paintings and more from Goldman’s Long Island, N.Y., estate, The Chimneys. “Christ and the Woman Taken in Adultery (John 8: 3-11)” was one of two lots to secure the highest price of the sale: $28,800, including buyer’s premium. The unframed oil on panel was done in the Sixteenth Century by a Flemish School artist and was closely related to an original work by Lorenzo Lotto, which is part of the collection at the Musée du Louvre, Paris. The second lot at $28,800 was a George II giltwood sofa made circa 1730. Additional highlights from this sale will be featured in an upcoming issue.
