BOSTON, MASS. – For its first Americana sale
The labeled piece, sold by Israel Sack in 1926 when the dealer was still on Charles Street in Boston, went to a phone bidder for $500,000 plus premium. Executive Vice President Stephen Fletcher, shown here with the secretary, opened bidding at $90,000. Disappointed Peabody Essex Museum curator Dean Lahikainen dropped out at $450,000.
A full review of this sale will appear in an upcoming issue of Antiques and The Arts Weekly.
