HOUSTON, TEXAS — Check out this impromptu talk about Frank Reaugh’s “The Sheepherders Camp,” given by eminent Reaugh scholar, Michael Grauer, at the CASETA (Early Texas Art) conference April 26.
Considered the top authority on Texas artist Frank Reaugh, Grauer gave an emotional talk at the Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art’s 13th Annual Symposium. Grauer explains the importance of Reauch’s “The Sheepherders Camp, 1893,” saying among other things, “It is the last great one out there.”
Grauer is associate director for curatorial affairs/curator of art and western heritage at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas. He and his wife Paula L. Grauer are the authors of Dictionary of Texas Artists, 1800-1945, West Texas A&M University Series, 1999.
Heritage Auctions will offer Frank Reaugh’s “Sheepherders Camp,” 1893, as part of its Texas Art Auction in Dallas on Saturday, May 16.
