Highlights from St Charles Gallery’s auction on July 24-25 included a rare Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848-1933) early double patinated bronze vase from the fourth quarter of the Nineteenth Century, which sold for $16,100.
A fine and rare provincial Louisiana Federal mahogany armoire, first quarter of the Nineteenth Century, realized $28,750, and a .036-caliber cased Tranter percussion revolver, circa 1867, hand engraved with “Made by Wm. Tranter for A.B. Griswold & Co. New Orleans,” fetched $11,500.
A sum of $8,750 was paid for an elaborate bronze figure of “The Chariot of Aurora,” after Auguste Moreau (French, 1861-circa 1946). A fine oak Welsh dresser sold for $8,125.
