Grave Markers Reported Stolen

The Winsted Police Department has reported the theft of approximately 50 brass plaques and flag holders marking the graves of United States war veterans from cemeteries throughout the town. Many of the memorials taken commemorated Civil War veterans, those that served in the War of 1812, WWI and WWII, as well as in Korea and Vietnam. Anyone with information pertaining to the thefts or the recovery of the memorials is asked to contact the Winsted Police Department, Chris Skinner at 860-379-2721.
