BOSTON — The June 12 sale at Grogan and Company comprised of more than 150 select Oriental rugs and carpets, including 35 carpets from the Peter Tillou collection. At $28,750, a Persian Serapi carpet from the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century was the top selling carpet in the sale. It was larger than 10 by 9 feet and was decorated with pink, black and blue floral designs on an ivory field. A circa 1875 Kuba corridor carpet from the Tillou collection, bringing $28,125, was the second highest price of the day. Ten additional rugs from the Tillou collection were among the highest priced items of the sale. Rugs, carpets and saddle bags from a variety of regions were included. Watch for a full report.
