DENVER, PENN. — Morphy’s firearms auction June 9–10 was led by James B. Hume’s historical Henry lever-action rifle (associated with the capture of Black Bart) that attained $141,450, including the buyer’s premium.
Made in 1864, the rifle is professionally engraved “James B. Hume” on its top and dated 1864 on the receiver bridge. Hume is remembered for his capture of the infamous gentleman bandit, Black Bart.
