HAVERHILL, MASS. — On Saturday, October 22, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Historic New England presents “Introduction to Decorative Arts,” where participants can learn about decorative arts from Historic New England’s experts in this in-depth workshop.
Historic New England curators Nancy Carlisle and Laura Johnson present workshops on furniture, textiles, ceramics and jewelry, and Kirk Nelson, president of the New Bedford Museum of Glass, discusses glass. The hands-on demonstrations describe the history, craftsmanship and changing methods of production of decorative arts.

Attendees can examine original pieces from Historic New England’s extensive collection up close. The course concludes with a tour of the collections storage area. A boxed lunch is included.
