MARLBOROUGH, MASS. — An unusual, inverted sand bottle made by Andrew Clemons earned the highest price of $277,575 at Bonhams Skinner’s November 18 Americana sale. An important suite of four Chinese export paintings, “The Four Seasons,” attributed to Fatqua, earned $189,375, and a copper and zinc “Horse and Hoop” weathervane from a single owner collection of weathervanes brought $20,400. The sale also included a single owner collection of exceptional painted, country furniture and American paintings and Bermuda furniture did well. Both Karen Keane and Steve Fletcher shared with Antiques and The Arts Weekly that they are stepping back from their decades-long management roles as of the end of the year. Both are remaining with the company and both will have more time to focus on outreach to new and existing clients. Each discussed those changes, both personally and business related. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium as reported auction house; a more extensive report will follow in a future issue.
