BEACHWOOD, OHIO — On March 2, Neue Auctions conducted its Fresh & Neue auction, presenting 341 lots of antiques, fine art, silver and jewelry — all fresh to the market. Achieving the highest price in the auction was “Flying Boat,” a 2002 blown glass sculpture by Lino Tagliapietra (Italian, b 1934). The blue and red glass piece was approximately 65 inches long and 27½ inches tall, as mounted on a bronze stand. Ultimately won by an online bidder, the long vessel crossed the block at $19,680, easily surpassing its high estimate of $12,000. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house. A more in-depth review of this sale will be in an upcoming issue.
