MALONE, N.Y. — Kenneth W. Scott, 80, of Malone, N.Y., died Monday, February 3, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of the North Country.
Born on May 7, 1944, in Malone, he was the son of Bruce and Bernice (Wood) Scott. He married Susan Mary Wilson on April 28, 1989, at the Chasm Falls United Methodist Church.
Ken attended Franklin Academy and later the University of Dubuque in Iowa, graduating in 1967. He played football for both schools and was captain of his college team. Ken remained a great football fan his entire life.
After college, Ken served two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia. His duties included public health, basic farming and a working knowledge of the Malaysian language.
Upon returning to the United States Ken taught Death and Dying, Asian American History and Economics at Franklin Academy from 1970 to 1999.
Ken was also a lifetime antiques dealer. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the country buying and selling antiques in pursuit of this lifelong passion.
He is survived by Susan, his loving wife of more than 35 years; a son, Ian Scott and his wife, Colleen, of Malone; a daughter, Kiersten Easley and her husband Scott, of Ramona, Calif.; four grandchildren, Willow and Nora Scott, Josephine and Malachi Easley; two sisters, Helen Curtis of Colton, Calif.; Nancy Manley of Massena, N.Y.; a brother, Peter Scott and his wife, Suzanne, of Malone; a brother-in-law Matthew Lasky of Malone; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Richard ‘Red” Scott; sister-in-law, Theresa Lasky; and brothers-in-law, David Manley and Ellis Curtis.
