CHESTER, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA — Crowther & Brayler’s 31st annual summer auction, which took place on August 3, offered more than 500 lots of fine art, jewelry, furniture and decorative art. Though there was strength in many areas, particularly local and Indigenous items, the high mark of the day was achieved by two vintage Louis Vuitton trunks, offered consecutively, that each sold for $5,428. The two had been consigned to the Nova Scotia firm from the same consigner, a descendant of the original owner of the trunks, who had been a member of the first Canadian women’s ski team. Bill Brayley confirmed that the trunks sold to different buyers. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium and have been converted into USD. Watch for a more extensive review in a forthcoming issue.
