– Nearly 1,000 lots of art pottery crossed the auction block during three sessions at Cincinnati Art Galleries “Holiday Sale” this past weekend, October 31 though November 2, with more than $920,000 realized.
Highlighting the auction was a nice selection of Rookwood pottery that attracted active bidding from collectors throughout the country. Leading the auction was this rare Matt Daly flowing glaze Rookwood vase with highly carved teasels that sold for $24,150.
Another desirable vase was a French Red example by Sara Sax with incised overlapping sprays of red and blue flowers with green, orange and red leaves. Bidding on this lot was also brisk with it handily exceeding estimates as it sold for $20,125.
A complete review will appear in a future issue.
