LARCHMONT, N.Y. — Clarke Auction found a winner in its September 10 sale as a large seated bronze figure, 67 ½ inches high, cataloged as ‘After Elie Nadelman’ surged past the $9,000 high estimate to reach $60,000 including the buyer’s premium. The piece hailed from a Rye, N.Y. estate and sold to a phone bidder. With a gestural pose, the figure sat cross legged on a pedestal, one hand resting on her thigh and the other raised in the air as if presenting a toast.
