PITTSFIELD, MASS. — The top lot of Fontaine’s Auction Gallery’s February 1-2 Fine & Decorative Arts auction was a circa 1905 Tiffany Studios Nasturtium table lamp, sold on the first day. Estimated at $100/150,000, the lamp was lit to $175,000, including buyer’s premium, besting more than 770 other lots in the two-day auction. The bold, colorful leaded glass mosaic shade, 19 inches in diameter, rested atop a four-footed patinated bronze base and measured 23½ inches high in total. Departing from a private Florida collection, the shade was in excellent condition and the base was in very good condition with its original sockets. Additional results from the auction will be featured in an upcoming issue.
