“We put the decision off as long as possible but finally on Monday, September 24, we officially postponed our National Capital Winter Antiques Show until 2008,” Bob James of Armacost Antiques Shows told Antiques and The Arts Weekly the next day.
“It was in the best interest of everyone and we are now working to launch the show next year during the same time period,” he said.
The show was set for November 30⁄ecember 2 at the DC National Guard Armory on East Capital Street.
Management had hoped to have 150 exhibitors in this new show, and would have even gone ahead with 100 dealers.
“With only 60 days to go we had about 80 dealers in place, and the balance was still tentative,” Bob James said, adding, “There was too much at risk to see it work out in the time remaining. Too many of the dealers said they would come, but had not confirmed.”
Armacost Antiques Shows manages nine events during the year including shows in Annapolis, Hunt Valley, Historic Alexandria, Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, and several Florida locations. New dates, location and other details concerning the 2008 National Capital Winter Antiques Show will be released in the near future.
