NEW YORK CITY — Several lots that descended in the family of American songwriter Irving Berlin were featured in Doyle’s March 13 Latin American Art sale, including newly discovered paintings by Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco and Hector Hyppolite. A watercolor painting Berlin commissioned Rivera to accompany his song, “In Acapulco” that was never published soared to a premium-inclusive $254,500 to lead the 68-lot sale, which realized a total of more than $1.2 million. More highlights of this sale will be in a forthcoming issue.
