On a recent quiet morning, two persons broke into the Walpole Unitarian Church on Main Street and stole items from the sanctuary. The belongings that were taken include two small wooden tables, a Tibetan singing bowl, a large painting of a biblical landscape scene and a sound system with amplifiers and microphones.
Many of the items that were taken can be replaced, but the most precious of the belongings that was taken was an antique marble baptismal font that is important to the congregation. Several members have fond memories of their children being baptized in this special bowl and the congregation is especially saddened by this loss. The bowl was taken, but the pedestal remains, so the bowl is most likely being sold or used separately.
The items taken were removed and placed in an older model, white car in a state of disrepair.
A reward will be given for information leading to the return of any of these items. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the church office at 603-756-3961.
