LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. — Rago Arts and Auction Center’s Twentieth Century decorative arts and design auction surpassed expectation to total $5.6 million June 5–7 that saw new global auction records established on all three days.
Leading Friday’s early Twentieth Century design auction, a 1902 Van Briggle Lorelei vase brought $274,000 and continuing the trend in Saturday’s contemporary glass auction was a Dale Chihuly chandelier at $200,000 and a Lino Tagliapietra vase that fetched $46,875.
The showstopper of the weekend came during Sunday’s modern design auction Paul Evans stole the show with a rare Wavy Front cabinet that attained $286,000, also setting a new auction record for Evans.
