BRANFORD, CONN. — Fred Giampietro, New England Auctions, presented nearly 400 lots from the Americana collection of Janice & Bernard Pfaneuf on June 21, followed the next day with another 477 lots of Americana and decorative arts from various owners, including the Estate of Toni Noble. The combined total for both days was $1.6 million, led at $106,250, including premium, by a portrait of Abigail Pitts, Worcester, Mass., circa 1830, which had provenance to both Stephen-Douglas Antiques and Jewett-Berdan Antiques. Measuring 35½ by 29½ inches, framed, the oil on panel composition sold to a private collector bidding on the phone. A more extensive auction review will appear in an upcoming issue.
