This magnificent chair is a recreation of a Philadelphia Queen Anne arm chair chosen by Charles F. Montgomery, noted authority of colonial furniture, for inclusion in the international exhibition of the finest in American antiques held first at Yale University in 1976. Its graceful lines and sophisticated elegance mark it as a paramount example of the Philadelphia school and and with its elaborate carving demonstrates the height of the cabinetmaker's art. This chair features sweeping arms, an elegant splat, shell carved crest rail with volutes and coordinating shell carved cabriole legs resting on trifet feet. An original antique example of this chair set a new world's sales record when it sold for over $2 million.
