18th C. Provençal panetière and pétrin, two pieces, both walnut: panetière (dough box) raised on four feet, arched crest topped with seven ball and trumpet form finials, one detached but included, hinged door at front opens to allow access to central well enclosed by twenty turned spindles and slatted bottom, floral carved crest and shaped apron, bas relief carving of sheaf of grain on door front fitted with oversized canister hinge and elaborately pierced lockplate, comes with key, 34 ½" h. x 31 5/8" w. x 17 ½" d.; pétrin (trough used to knead bread or store flour) has oblong removable top over open trapezoidal well with canted sides and metal liner on trestle form base, splayed and turned legs linked by shaped box stretchers, added wooden supports under trestle table top, 39" h. x 49" w. x 22" d., all measurements are approximate, expected wear throughout including past insect damage, finish roughness, minor isolated loss, and alterations.
