Nineteenth Century Silhouette- Price Upon Request
A well executed and wonderfully creepy, framed Nineteenth Century silhouette, in the manner of Auguste Edouart, of an ominous school teacher, the full length black ink portrait of "Master Timothy Randall" (as inscribed in script lower right corner), standing with arms folded behind his back, holding a switch (for corporal punishment) in his classroom, which features a map of the United States behind him, a peeling plaster wall and mouse hole, rendered with great detail and skill in sepia watercolor. In a period ebonized, carved and parcel-gilt frame. 13 1/2 by 11 1/8 inches. Andrew Spindler Antiques Essex, MA 978-768-6045 info@spindlerantiques.com www.spindlerantiques.com
