Purchased in 1966 directly from the artist this chess set was custom made by Bruce Friedle. We have a copy and the original receipt dating to 1966. The name if the buyer has been deliberately blocked from the photo but the buyer if this unique chess set will have it. It cost $950.00 plus tax in 1966, quit a princely sum. The set is a magnificent example of the brutalist movement by one of its finest artists. The tallest piece measures approx 8 inches and shortest approx 5 inches. The board is a bit convex so a piece of glass holds the pieces level. The board is approx 24 inches square.
