This work comes from the self-portrait of Rembrandt, 1637, oil on panel, belonging to the Louvre. It is a smaller version in close-up and simplified, with changes in some details, but maintaining the architecture of the background. Provenance: The Sedelmeyer Gallery, Paris 1911; The E. Both Collection, Basil Switzerland.
