LAS VEGAS — It took much more than pocket change to take home one of the fabulous coin-op machines of that era at Morphy’s December 5-7 auction. The 1,277-lot sale of antique coin-ops and advertising rang up more than $3.7 million. Heavy phone bidding and strong floor action marked the lively three-day event, whose Saturday session exclusively featured the Rich and Sharon Penn collection. A very rare circa 1905 battery-operated Ray-O-Lite rifle game from the Penns’ holdings shot to $319,800, including buyer’s premium, against an estimate of $100/200,000. A future issue will have a more extensive report.
