In May, a number of valuable items were taken in a residential burglary from a private collection here. A reward has been offered, up to $25,000, for information resulting in the recovery of these stolen pieces.
The stolen items comprised Buccellati silver, including a soup tureen in 25 silver gilt with ladle set, tray and lid, with 97 fruit-colored gemstones; a grand vase of silver with red and green jasper medallions, silver weight 4,230 grams, jasper weight 3,175 grams, total weight 7,405 grams; two silver snails †the body consisting of a genuine nautilus, the feelers with round garnets on the top, size 5½ by 16½ inches; and one articulating sterling silver giraffe with garnet eyes, height 20 inches.
