KENT, CONN. – The Bachelier-Cardonsky Gallery will open a new exhibition on Saturday, July 27. “Windows,” which will run through August 25, is a group show featuring five artists.
Joan Griswold of Massachusetts paints quiet, muted canvases of simple, mundane subjects: an unmade bed in morning light, a bookstore window.
Lisa Hess of Connecticut has built a strong reputation with her mysterious and provocative paintings of figures in interiors.
Mallory Lake is a Vermont artist who paints pastel landscapes, often of Tuscany.
Tommy Simpson is an artist from Litchfield County who brings to this show sculptures, paintings, and carved wood panels.
Sloan Tanen, originally from California and now a New Yorker, paints in mixed media. Her subjects are houses, viewed from the outside, in moody shades of black and white.
In addition to these five artists, others included will show works about windows. Among them will be Carol Anthony, Richard Chamberlain, David Eddy, Adam Kennedy, Silvius Krecu, and Nora Sturges.
The gallery is on Main Street. For information, 860-927-3129.
