Bert Gallery Features the Work of Gordon Peers
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On display at Bert Gallery will be the exhibit “: Gordon Peers, 1909-1988” from September 18 to October 26.
Peers’ dappled watercolors and oil-laden canvases reveal the commanding craftsmanship of a talented American painter. The exhibit will survey paintings from the 1930s through 1980s.
Peers taught at Rhode Island School of Design from 1934 to 1973. He went on to a successful career and exhibited paintings at such prestigious exhibitions as the 1939 World’s Fair in New York, National Exhibition of American Artists in 1936 and 1938, and the Department of the Interior, Washington, D.C.
The gallery is at 540 South Water Street and is open 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4 pm on Saturday. For more information, call 401-751-2628.
