An Eighteenth Century silver salver by Myer Myers surprised many as it became the top lot at Skinner’s Americana sale this past Sunday, November 6. The 81/4-inch circular tray with scrolled edge and shell decoration and supported by short cabriole legs ending in pad feet was made in New York City, circa 1746-1776. The lot generated a frenzy of phone bidding and sold on the phone for $99,500, well above the $20/30,000 estimates. A full report of the sale will appear in a future edition. -Frances McQueeney-Jones Mascolo
